Some changes begin to occur on our skin as we age. With age, especially skin loses elasticity, natural collagen reproduction begins to slow and our face does not look as firm and supple as it used to do. This appears especially on the forehead due to mimics because more mimics mean more wrinkles.

Horizontal lines begin to appear on our forehead due to mimics, long-term sunlight exposure and aging. Although toxin application is recommended to prevent formation of such lines during young age, in aged women and men with deep wrinkles, forehead line filler is recommended following the toxin application.

This application is intended to make the face more attractive and aesthetically pleasant.

What is Forehead Filler Good for?

Forehead filler is a procedure that is applied in order to eliminate wrinkles and lines in the forehead area, to restore moisture and elasticity loss, to fix congenital asymmetries and to make a more rounded forehead if it is flat and not in line with the golden ratio.

Why are the Causes of Forehead Wrinkles?

  • UV RADIATION

Too much unprotected exposure to sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays cause wrinkles on the forehead and face generally in light-skinned women and men. As our country basks in the sun for most of the year, it is inevitable for people who live therein to show signs of premature aging and wrinkles.

  • MIMICS

When we get surprised, angry or laugh, we move the muscles on our forehead the most. We tighten our facial muscles through mimics and wrinkles appear in our forehead area.

  • UNHEALTHY DIET, SMOKING AND DRINKING ALCOHOL

Unhealthy diet, smoking and drinking alcohol causes deterioration of the skin and skin quality. Such deteriorations generally lead to face wrinkles.

  • NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER

One should drink at least 2 liters of water every day in order to make sure that their body is not dehydrated and their skin does not become dry and lose elasticity.

Who is Best Suited for Forehead Filler?

If horizontal wrinkles appear on a person’s forehead when s/he does not move his/her facial muscles or if their forehead area is congenitally flat, they can get forehead filler applied.

How if Forehead Filler Applied?

Before forehead filler is injected, skin is cleaned. Then, topical anesthetic cream is applied to ensure that patient does not feel pain. After the numbing occurs, filler application sites are identified. For forehead filler, blunt-tip apparatus that are generally called cannula and which do not damage tissues are used for the purpose of shaping in case of forehead filler. Filler is injected into the wrinkles slowly through cannula in order to eliminate wrinkles.

The operation lasts for approximately 10 minutes and patient can return to normal life.

Other aesthetic operations and filler procedures such as under-eye light filler, jawline filler and toxin applications can be easily planned and performed during forehead filler procedure.

What Points Need to Be Considered Before Forehead Filler?

If you are taking any medicine regularly, you must inform your physician before getting forehead filler applied and if you are taking drugs such as anticoagulant, pain killer or antibiotics, you must stop taking them one week before the procedure is performed within the knowledge of your physician.

Which Points Must Be Considered After the Forehead Filler is Applied?

  • You should not wear make-up for the first 24 hours.
  • You must make sure that your forehead does not contact water for 8 hours.
  • You should not sleep on your stomach and do facial massage for the first one week.
  • You must refrain from activities such as Turkish bath, excessive steam bath and strenuous exercise for the first one week.
  • You must drink plenty of water for the first two weeks in order to enhance effect of the procedure.

When Does the Effect of Forehead Filler Become Apparent?

The effect of the forehead filler becomes apparent immediately after the procedure. The lines are filled and eliminated at maximum level at the end of 2-3 weeks. If the patient drinks plenty of water for the first two weeks, the effect of filler is maximized and skin moisture and brightness is restored.

How Long Does Forehead Filler Last?

Just as in every medical aesthetic procedure, forehead fillers do not last forever. While the duration of its effects changes depending on the patient (use of mimics, gaining and losing weight, chronic disease, taking medicines, stress and hardship, type of the material used), it changes from 9 to 18 months.

Is the Second Session Required for Forehead Filler?

Forehead filler is a single-session procedure. Patients attend the follow-up appointment 14 days after the procedure. If it is deemed required, it is retouched.

Can Get a Forehead Filler Applied Repetitively?

Filler procedure is a repetitive operation. After the fillers lose their effect following a procedure, certain amount of filler remains under the skin and after a couple of applications, forehead filler lasts even longer and your wrinkles are treated visibly.

Does Forehead Filler Have Any Side Effect?

If you have a sensitive skin, redness and slight swelling can occur on the skin following the forehead filler. In such case, ice is applied to eliminate redness. The substance of forehead filler is hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid retains water that is naturally available in the skin and help your skin look and feel suppler. As such, it does not have any side effects on human health.
